Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
