England’s men’s team will embark on their UEFA Euro 2028 adventure at the Manchester City’s stadium, provided that they attain the relatively straightforward qualification for a competition staged throughout the majority of the UK and the Irish Republic.

Manchester City’s home ground has not staged an England men’s game since eight years ago, when the visitors were overcome 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is expected to stage the national team for their inaugural game on a Saturday in June 2028.

The English side are planned to play their concluding group fixtures at Wembley Stadium, but, should they win their group, their round of 16 match would take place at St James’ Park. Placing second would mean commencing the knockouts at Everton’s ground.

The championship was unveiled at an ceremony in central London on Wednesday night. High-ranking officials from European football’s governing body and the organizing bodies were heckled as they approached the venue by around fifty protesters, who demanded the Israeli team to be removed from the sport because of the conflict in Gaza.

Placards were held up with slogans stating “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while protesters called out: “Kick Israel out.”

Event Fixture List

The opening game of Euro 2028 will be played at the Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital, on June 9, 2028, a fixture that will feature the Dragons if they qualify.

Wembley Stadium will host the penultimate rounds and the final, which will be played on July 9, 2028 with a start time at 5:00 PM.

It is expected that an earlier kick-off, which will also be implemented for European club finals from the following campaign, will attract households and help reach a more diverse set of viewers.

Participating Countries

The Republic of Ireland are set to play their first game at the Dublin Arena and Scotland would follow suit at Glasgow’s Hampden Park.

Each host nation’s squad will enter the qualifying tournament; two automatic spots will be set aside for any that fail to qualify for the finals through the qualification path.

Locations and Playoffs

Aston Villa’s stadium and The North London arena complete the nine host stadiums. Each one will hold at least one playoff fixture, with the quarterfinal matches played at every host’s main arena.

The draw for the qualifiers will be held in Belfast, which was dropped as a venue city last year when it was revealed the Belfast stadium could not be redeveloped in time, on 6 December 2026.
