Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
