Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
