Creator Vivienne Medrano's audacious mature musical series, which originated as a crowdfunded short, truly came into its own in its sophomore season. Building on the game-changing revelations of the first season, the narrative broadens significantly, centering on the scheming media overlord Vox as he takes control of the narrative, sparking a series of ever-more explosive conflicts that naturally culminate in show-stopping musical numbers.

While it might not have a one breakout song quite like the first season's "Loser, Baby," that's because each element in season 2 being increasingly complex. The action, character arcs, and especially the score and songs are all elevated. The story advances the overarching plot forward while delivering plenty of weird, wild, and simply entertaining fantasy.

8. Daredevil: Born Again

As a successor to the acclaimed Netflix show, this series faced enormous expectations. Despite significant development issues, the resulting product proves it was worthy of the effort. The plot follows Matt Murdock after his secret identity as Daredevil is exposed, making him a target to enemies both past and present in a refreshed version of his well-known setting.

The premiere is explosive, capturing the gritty feeling fans cherished from the prior series. While the middle episodes venture into some different narrative ground, the first season finishes on a strong note, leaving fans eagerly anticipating a follow-up installment.
